An
indefinite nationwide transporters' strike has been
called on by the All India Motor Transport Congress
commenced from Midnight of 5th January 2009 to press
for reduction in fuel price.
The transporter strike is hitting people hard. It was
not speculated to be at such a great magnitude. It has
affected the supply of basic essential goods and has
had an impact on almost every sector of the business
and now the oil companies are also on a strike. The
striking officers are demanding a wage hike among
other things.
Due to the transport & oil PSU officers strike, all
supplies of Petrol & diesel are affected and pumps in
many parts of the country are going dry and more are
expected to run out of stock.
This has resulted in vehicles staying off the roads
.Over 5, 00,000 trucks are currently off the road to
support the demands of transporters.
The Nhava Sheva Container Operators’ Welfare
Association (NSCOWA), which is involved in serving the
Port and Container Freight Stations (CFSs) in the JN
port, has hinted at joining the ongoing transporters’
strike called by the All India Motor Transport
Congress (AIMTC).
Because of the pertaining situations in the country ,
there is a halt in any movement within the country or
even within the city. There is an expected delay in
clearance and delivery of shipments. PMR will
